After the announcement on Monday 4th January by Nicola Sturgeon, David (Jnr) spent much of that day discussing with our national association (The British Blind and Shutter Association) to try and understand our association’s lawyers’ interpretation of the lockdown guidance/law as it applies to us here in Scotland.
As we have come to expect, neither the guidance nor the forthcoming legislation is clear and unambiguous and appears open to interpretation.
Morally Wrong
At a Directors’ meeting on Tuesday 5th January, we decided that it would be both legally and morally wrong to visit our clients in their homes at this time. Incidentally, a decision which has been overwhelmingly endorsed by our clients in the phone calls we have had with them since the reintroduction of lockdown.
Construction Sites
Trading Standards have since informed us that whilst we are not permitted to enter an occupied home (whether there’s anyone at home or not), the rules are different for construction sites. We are permitted to measure and install product in new build homes as long as possession has not passed over to the purchasers.
As with the previous lockdown, we are, already, building up a list of clients who want to book a home visit as soon as we are allowed to do so.
Telephone & Video Consultations
We’re still available for telephone and video consultations – call 0800 086 2989 to book a consultation.
Repairs
Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer our usual Luxaflex Blind repair service for the foreseeable future.
