What Is Duo Roller?
A clever twist on the traditional roller blind
Duo Roller takes the familiar roller blind and adds something remarkable. Instead of a single sheet of fabric that rolls up and down, the blind uses two layers of fabric joined together, each with alternating bands of sheer and opaque material. Pull the cord or tap the app and the two layers slide over each other.
When the sheer bands line up with each other, daylight filters through. When the opaque bands align, the window is completely covered for full privacy. Everything in between gives you infinite adjustment, so you can have exactly the amount of light and visibility you want at any moment.
Some brands call this style a "day and night blind" or a "zebra blind". Luxaflex calls it Duo Roller. What sets the Luxaflex version apart is the fabric engineering, the mechanism quality, and the option to add PowerView motorisation for fully cordless, app and voice controlled operation.

Three positions, one blind
Sheer aligned
Daylight filters through both layers of sheer fabric for a softly lit room with a clear view to the outside. Perfect for daytime.
Half and half
Slide the fabric part way to balance light and privacy. The sheer and opaque bands sit partly over each other, giving a softly diffused glow.
Opaque aligned
Full privacy and maximum light reduction. The opaque bands form a continuous cover across the window. Ideal for evenings and bedrooms.

Questions about Duo Roller
Are Duo Roller blinds the same as day and night blinds?
Yes, "day and night blinds" is a generic term for this style. Luxaflex Duo Roller is the premium version, engineered by Hunter Douglas with better fabrics, mechanism, and the option for PowerView motorisation. Cheap imitations use lower quality fabric that sags and misaligns over time.
Will they darken the room completely?
Duo Roller provides excellent light reduction when the opaque bands are aligned, but small amounts of light may pass around the edges or through the sheer sections. If you need true room darkening (bedrooms, media rooms), we would recommend Duette room darkening blinds or shutters instead.
Do they work on bifold doors and large windows?
Duo Roller works beautifully on standard and larger windows. For bifold doors, each panel typically gets its own blind. Very wide openings may need the blind split into sections. The survey will confirm the best layout for your specific installation.
How much does a Duo Roller blind cost?
The price depends on the window size, fabric choice, and whether you add PowerView motorisation. A standard window typically starts from around £250 to £400.
