Window Shutters

Transform your home with beautifully crafted shutters

Interior window shutters are solid panels with adjustable louvres that control light, privacy, noise, and insulation from within your window frame. Available in timber, waterproof PVC, and aluminium, with over 2,500 installations across Scotland since 1987. Made to measure, fitted by our own team, guaranteed for five years.

About Shutters

A permanent improvement for your home

Interior window shutters are solid panels with adjustable louvres that sit within or around your window frame. By tilting the louvres, you control exactly how much light enters the room, where it falls, and how much privacy you have. Unlike curtains or blinds, shutters are a permanent fixture that becomes part of the architecture of your home.

Every shutter we install is made to measure for the exact dimensions of your window. The panels fold, slide, or remain fixed depending on the style you choose, and the louvres tilt open or closed to give you complete control throughout the day. There is no glare on screens, no fading of furniture, and no compromise on natural light.

Shutters never need replacing. There are no cords to tangle, no fabrics to fade, and no mechanisms to wear out. A simple wipe with a damp cloth keeps them looking new for decades. That is why they are considered one of the most valuable improvements you can make to any property.

The Benefits

Why shutters are worth the investment

Shutters are a long term investment in your home. Here is what they deliver, year after year.

Privacy & Light Control

Adjustable louvres let you fine tune exactly how much light enters the room and how much privacy you have. No other window covering gives you this level of precise control.

Energy Efficiency

Shutters create an insulating barrier at the window, reducing heat loss in winter and keeping rooms cooler in summer. They can noticeably lower your energy bills over time.

Noise Reduction

Shutters reduce outside noise by 5 to 10 dB with louvres closed. Combined with a Duette blind, the reduction reaches 8 to 13 dB, roughly half the perceived loudness. See our acoustic guide.

Low Maintenance

A simple wipe with a damp cloth is all it takes. No washing, no dry cleaning, no replacing faded fabric every few years. Shutters stay looking fresh with almost no effort.

Added Home Value

Shutters are a permanent improvement that stays with the property. Estate agents consistently list them as a feature that adds real value and helps homes sell faster.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

How much do window shutters cost in Scotland?
The cost of window shutters depends on the size of the window, the material you choose, and the style. As a guide, a standard window in timber shutters typically starts from around £400 to £600 including measurement, supply, and professional installation. Waterproof PVC and composite options can be more affordable. We provide a detailed written quotation after your consultation so you know exactly what to expect with no hidden costs.
How long does shutter installation take?
Most installations are completed in a single day. A typical house with four to six windows takes around four to five hours. Larger projects may take two days. We will confirm the timeline when we provide your quotation. Our own fitters carry out every installation, so there is no waiting for third party availability.
Do shutters add value to your home?
Yes. Estate agents consistently list interior shutters as a feature that adds value to a property and helps it sell faster. Unlike curtains or blinds, shutters are a permanent fixture that becomes part of the architecture. They appeal to buyers because they are low maintenance, long lasting, and give any room an instant upgrade.
What is the difference between timber, composite, and PVC shutters?
Timber shutters (our Hawaii and Fiji ranges) offer the widest colour range and the most premium finish. They suit living rooms and bedrooms. Composite shutters (Cuba range) combine a hardwood louvre with an engineered frame, offering excellent value at a lower price. PVC shutters (Java range) are 100% waterproof and ideal for bathrooms, kitchens, and wet areas. Aluminium shutters (Portchester range) provide security with style and are perfect for patio doors and ground floor windows.
Can you fit shutters to bay windows, arched windows, or unusual shapes?
Yes. Every shutter we install is made to measure for the exact dimensions of your window. We regularly fit shutters to bay windows, arched windows, circular porthole windows, triangular gable ends, and angled shapes. If the window has a shape, we can shutter it.
Do you cover all of Scotland?
Yes. We have Design Studios in Dundee and Edinburgh, and we measure and install across the whole of Scotland from the Borders to the Highlands. Our team travels to you for a home consultation, and our own fitters carry out every installation.
